Review for The Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa

The Immortal Rules (Blood of Eden, #1)The Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The world Kagawa builds is a gritty one, and we see and find out what it’s like for these unregistereds (humans on the fringes of society who have decided not to make themselves property of the vampires) We see how hard it is for them to live. Every day is a literal fight for survival and it is here we meet the main character, Allison Sekemoto.

At the beginning of the book we meet someone who is terribly cynical and, though this is not the right word, cold, but then again she has grown up in this world where being soft hearted would more than likely get you killed. She is also one of the few unregistereds who can read. This also helps contribute to her hatred and cynicisms to the situations that the humans are in. They can better themselves and knowledge is power.

One day she and the gang she is a part of gets ambushed, and in a bid that surprises even herself, she ends up throwing herself into harm’s way to save a fellow crew member. A series of unfortunate events later and Sekemoto gets turned into the very thing she despises.
Kanin, the vampire who turned her is, freakin’ epic. XD sorry I couldn’t help myself, but really I pretty much love him, he’s one of those stoic, wise characters. Of course he has a history that haunts him to this day. But wow, the man can fight. And I love the interaction between him and Allison. There are times where he comes across as an exasperated family member when dealing with Allie.

Allie, after she turned, seemed to have thawed out a bit. Things she would’ve found her old self sneering at, telling her they had no time for this or the resources, the vampire Allie willingly does. It’s a kind of irony in that after dying does she start to become human.
And now for Zeke *waggles eyebrows* lol. Aah what can I say about Zeke? He’s a character that feels. He’s not cold or stoic or any other thing to that effect. He’s not a jerk. He’s just Zeke. Oh and he hates Vampires. Kinda poses a problem between him and Allie, don’t you think?
Heh, well overall this book was amazing. I seriously loved it, and I think I may just become a die-hard fan of Julie Kagawa. The plot has action…hello fight off mindless rabids? Romance *snickers* Yes I do love my romance, and that gritty feel that a post – apocalyptic world has.

Oh and guys? There's a nice lil' preview for The Lost Prince (Ethan's story in the spin-off Iron Fey series) at the end of the book.

Hello Monday

Hello again bright world, it is now *looks at time on computer* 6:18....o.O What on earth am I doing up so early when I have no classes. Heh, well six is that bad a time to be up, unfortunately I woke up at...what was it again, ah yes 5:20 o.O

I have one more exam left and then I'll be home free. HUZZAH! and chocolate sprinkles ^_^ That's not until the 7th of May, so until then.

Oh have I told you guys *looks around to see only tumbleweed flying around*.....*sighs dejectedly*...Well I guess I'll just speak to myself...foreveralone level: ??? XD...anyways enough of that I need to get back on track. Ah yes where was I, ah I am an aspiring (and I use that term in the loosest way possible) writer...dun dun dun! What, you don't like my sound effects? *snorts* And yes I actually do snort...I realised one day and I was like o.O O_O *pokerface*

Yeah I think one day I'd actually like to publish a book of my own. I'm working on it right now. Fantasy/Adventure because that's the genre that speaks to me the most, I have some more ideas. But I realise the longer I wait to get cracking, the longer my ideas become less original...but at the same time, while variety is the spice of life, familiarity brings comfort. Right? Well that's just my opinion. For me when I read, I don't mind it when if it's a cliché, so long that it's done in such a way that it pulls me in and I enjoy every second of it.

What about you guys?

Oh side note time :P. I am currently reading Immortal Rules *le gasp* so I may or may not put up a review for that later. But I will say this, I love it so far.

K, well until later guys ;)

Review for Summoning the Night (Arcadia Bell #2) by Jenn Bennett

Hello Guys, here's my review for Summoning the Night by Jenn Bennett and boy did I enjoy ^_^

JUPE I LOVE YOU! -- so what if I'm older than you are...you like older women, right? XD

*cough* Now that I've gotten that out of the way, let me just say, I hearts this book with unending love. No Seriously. I enjoyed the first book, but this one, in my opinion, is far better.

What I really loved about this book was that you got to see more of the dynamic between Cady, Jupe and Lon. And specifically on the Cady-Jupe aspect (i love that kid, no lie). You really see them working as family unit, and Jupe, well Jupe is so ...Jupe (for lack of a better description) that he just pulls Cady into it. She may not know what she's doing, or how she's to act, seeing as her parents weren't the best of the lot, or even decent, but Jupe has an unending supply of love that just draws her in, along with the reader. I know I was drawn in.

Of course this does not detract from everything else, we still have our action packed, romance sprinkled and mystery infused Urban Fantasy, and that part's great also.

I just felt I had to comment on the Jupe-Cady aspect of the book. 5 Star rating ^_^

And one more thing => I really love that this has no love triangles. Huzzah!

on a side note...does anyone have any good romance recommendation with kids in the plot? cuz seriously, this book brought out my urge to read one

On another note, tell me if you guys would rather the summary be attached to the books ^_^

Review for Happenstance Found by P.W. Catanese

Happenstance Found (The Books of Umber, #1)Happenstance Found by P.W. Catanese
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

At the start of the book we meet Happenstance who – I’m not even sure if that’s his name, but that's just me – has been woken by an unseen person [we only hear his voice] and has no recollection of his life before, whether it be where he was from or even his name, and so Mr. Unseen voice tells Happenstance to follow this group of people, Lord Umber, Sophie and Oates.

Umber is an eccentric man, with due reason actually, who I quite enjoyed hearing speak. There is a mystery that surrounds him as well as Happenstance, and how the mystery unfolded was done very nicely. Nothing was drawn out and nothing was revealed too quickly. Oates is another fun character who has been cursed to speak the truth, and he does it quite bluntly, often times getting himself into trouble.

The pacing, to me, was done just right and there weren't any pauses, so to speak, within the story.

All in all this was a fun and enjoyable read ^_^ 4.5 rating

Hello World!

*looks up at title* Well it's not original...but it's what all the beginning program stuff always have...printf ("Hello World").

Once again I shall foray into the unknown blogosphere *le gasp* yes, yes it is indeed true. I created one a while back...not on...blogger ...o.O (is that what's called XD)  but on wordpress..suffice to say a screwed up horribly on that, in that it had only to posts....the Hello World post...I promise this one is different, seriously.
and the tales of the Fruity Ninja. Of course that one post was written months upon months a part...I feel like showing it you guys...so Voila! (no I don't expect you to be astounded...just bear with me)

copy and pasted from my SpackleFritz blog :P (like word for word)

It's a dark and stormy night. The fruits are flying high. The sparkles light it up and Oh My! Confetti
flies! Look over yonder there. It's light is so blinding so debilitating. It creates sliced fruit and whats
                 it nots...

And I'm done...actually this post has been here for a while in my dashboard...(from last year).
I was in a class that day and while the teacher stepped out, they started playing fruit ninja and had it
projected on the board. In my class' defense, I think we had already done what was needed for
that  day ..but yea. Okay so...this is my first..real post i guess..

Yup so that was my random post from way back when...I don't know the exact protocol for writing a first  post so, I'll just say this...you'll find a bunch of my musings here...random or ones that actually make sense and some reviews of books I've read ... hence the title :P . I can't guarantee much reviews because honestly, review writing isn't my forte...well not those epistle like reviews. I don't have anything against them...I just can never write something that long about a book. In any case they'll probably be few in between...but I will have them ^_^

Oh and speaking of Books, has anyone seen the cover for Julie Kagawa's spin-off Iron Fey series? It features Ethan all grown up...and *smirks* Me Gusta.

lol...for anyone who hasn't seen it, link to Julie Kagawa's Blogspot below ^_^
